Does Finzip charge me a fee?
No. Finzip Private Limited is an IRDAI-registered Corporate Agent (Composite), registration number CA0985. The policy is issued by the insurer, and Finzip is remunerated by that insurer in accordance with IRDAI regulations. You pay only the premium set by the insurer.
What do I need to hand to get a quote?
Your vehicle registration number is usually enough to begin. To complete the policy you will need the registration certificate details and your previous policy — the latter matters because it evidences your No Claim Bonus.
My policy has already expired. Can I still renew here?
Yes. Note two things: driving an uninsured vehicle is an offence under the Motor Vehicles Act, so stop driving until cover is in force; and the insurer will usually require a break-in inspection of the vehicle before issuing a new policy. Renewing within 90 days of expiry also protects your No Claim Bonus.
How quickly does cover start?
For a renewal made before expiry, cover generally starts as soon as the premium is paid and the policy is issued. Where a break-in inspection is required, cover starts after the inspection is completed and accepted by the insurer.
