Frequently Asked Questions

What insurance does an Indian company actually need?

Some cover is statutory: third-party motor insurance for company vehicles, Employee’s Compensation for workplace injury, and ESI and EDLI above defined headcount and wage thresholds. Group health insurance is not legally required but is now expected by employees. Property, liability and cyber cover are driven by what you own, what you do, and what your clients and landlords require contractually.

What is the difference between a corporate agent and a broker?

Both are IRDAI-registered intermediaries, but they represent different parties. A corporate agent represents insurers and may place business with up to nine insurers in each category — life, general and health. A broker represents the client and can approach the whole market. Finzip is a Corporate Agent (Composite), registration CA0985, which is disclosed on every page of this site.

Do you charge businesses a fee?

No. For insurance, the policy is issued by the insurer and Finzip is remunerated by that insurer in accordance with IRDAI regulations. For mutual funds, Finzip is an AMFI-registered distributor, ARN-189270, remunerated by the asset management company, and the indicative rates are published on our disclosures page.

Can you work with our HRMS?

Yes. The point of an integration is that joiners and leavers flow through to the insurer without someone maintaining a parallel spreadsheet, which is where cover gaps come from. What can be automated depends on your HRMS and what its API exposes, so it is worth a specific conversation rather than a general promise.

How do we get started?

For group cover, with an employee census: names, dates of birth, and the same for any dependants you intend to cover. For treasury, with your incorporation and KYC documents plus a board resolution. In both cases the timeline is driven mostly by how quickly clean data can be assembled.
